Oborevwori celebrates Delta students’ victory at World Debate Championship

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has praised the outstanding performance of five students from the state who led Nigeria to victory at the World School Debate Championship held in Doha, Qatar.

In a statement posted on his official X handle on Friday, July 4, Governor Oborevwori described the students’ feat as a proud moment for both Delta State and Nigeria, adding that their success reflects the strength of the state’s youth and the impact of his administration’s developmental blueprint, the MORE Agenda.

“I proudly celebrate the brilliant students from Delta State who led Nigeria to victory at the World School Debate Championship in Doha, Qatar,” the governor wrote. “This triumph is a shining example of what young minds can achieve when nurtured under a focused vision like the MORE Agenda. Delta is not just participating in the global conversation—we’re leading it!”

He congratulated the winning team, which included Wisdom Chukwuma of Government College, Ughelli; Otorvo Uyoyou of Alegbo Secondary School, Effurun; Abraham Honour of Okpaka Secondary School, Okpaka; Ekhamateh Splendour of Government Model Secondary School, Asaba; and Alika Daniel of Utagba-Ogbe Grammar School, Kwale.

Their victory at the prestigious international competition has been widely celebrated as a major milestone for Nigerian students on the global stage.
