ODIOLOWO/OJUWOYE LCDA SPONSORS GCE

In a bid to support the community, the Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA under the leadership of Hon Rasaq Olusola Ajala have decided to sponsor GCE and hence students across the area sat for the MOCK examination that will qualify them to obtain free GCE forms.

The examination took place at Ilupeju senior grammar school in Oshodi on Wednesday 17th July, 2019.

Over one thousand students sat for the examination. Students that meet the cut off marks will be given GCE forms by the council freely.

Hon Ajala disclosed that this would be the second edition of the exercise since inception of their administration as the executive chairman but the program had started while he was the Executive Secretary of the council making it the third time. He said the exercise has brought the best out of the students.

“The MOCK examination has brought out the reading culture among the students and this has improved their performance in the external examination, GCE,

“If they get it on the platter of gold they may not appreciate the exercise and likelihood of failures is very high. We decided to walk this path because we have gotten positive results in the previous exercises,” he noted.

Speaking further, he stressed that eighty percent of the forms will be given out to the qualified candidates while the remaining twenty will go out to other stakeholders who have supported their party and government, like the religious group, market men/women, Community development Associations and of course, the political leaders who have been supported in terms of sensitization and advocacy in their various programs.

Talking about the credibility of the conduct of the MOCK examination, the chairman said: “To enhance the credibility of the process, we employed the service of public school teachers to invigilate the examination and the Nigerian Union of Teachers to do the Conference markings simultaneously.”

We are also doing this to assure the people that they don’t need to know people in government before they can benefit from the system because our philosophy is Common pool for Common Benefits,” he concluded.
