The Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa (OGITECH), has unveiled a fleet of locally manufactured tricycles aimed at tackling campus transportation challenges and promoting sustainability.
The revelation was made by Abiodun Oluseye, the Rector of OGITECH, during the official presentation of the tricycle by the Institute’s Department of Mechanical Engineering to the Governing Council on Thursday, March 28th, 2024.
Oluseye emphasised the commitment of his administration to fostering innovation across all disciplines within the Institute.
Underlining the future trajectory, Oluseye announced plans for an innovation center that will soon produce more electric tricycles and drones to meet the Institute’s diverse needs.
“This strategic initiative signifies OGITECH determination to embrace technological advancements for practical solutions,” the rector said.
Ayo Isaac Oyedeji, Dean of the School of Engineering Technology, praised Oluseye’s leadership in aligning OGITECH with the mandate of technical-based institutions in Nigeria.
He also lauded the efforts of Ayodele Abiola Noiki and Kaffo Omoniyi Paul, Heads of the Mechanical Engineering and Welding and Fabrication departments, respectively, for their instrumental roles in turning this vision into reality.
