The Towulade of Owu Akinale, Ogun State, Oba Oluseyi Adediran, has warned that no parent will be permitted to keep their children out of school.
Reaffirming his commitment to ensuring that every child in the Akinale community has access to quality education during the flag-off of an education support initiative on Monday, where pupils received free exercise books, school uniforms and writing materials, Oba Adediran described education as the foundation for a brighter future.
This was disclosed in a statement by the monarch on Tuesday.
“You all know the importance of nurturing our young ones, they are our tomorrow. We are starting this initiative to ensure our children get the best education possible.
“No child in Akinale must be out of school, and my chiefs have agreed with me, any parent who fails in this duty will face sanctions,” Oba Adediran declared.

He revealed that another phase of the initiative would be launched in two to three months, adding that his administration would continue to empower teachers and invest in educational infrastructure.
The monarch also commended the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, for his administration’s sustained investment in the state’s education sector.
“I must commend His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his great efforts in education.
“As a stakeholder working with SUBEB, I also see this as part of my duty to support our children and complement government efforts,” he added.
In her remarks, Olori Oluwafolakemi Adediran, the initiator of the programme, said the gesture was designed to encourage parental involvement in children’s education.
“Sometimes, children can be stubborn, but parents must not give up. They must support teachers and ensure that no child stays out of school or engages in hawking,” she advised.
She added that the scholarship component of the project would reward academic excellence.
“It’s strictly merit-based, only pupils who earn A grades will qualify and it’s open to children in public schools,” Olori Adediran said.

She also urged pupils to balance formal education with vocational skills, noting that “today’s children must prepare themselves to become tomorrow’s productive leaders.”
A teacher at Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Akinale, Mr. Akinyemi Olusola, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the monarch for his contribution to educational development.
“We sincerely appreciate Kabiyesi for this thoughtful gesture. The growth of education requires partnership, the government cannot do it alone. Everyone must contribute,” he said, calling on individuals and organisations to emulate Oba Adediran’s example to uplift education across Nigeria.
Adediran was presented Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment by Abiodun in July.
During the presentation, the monarch was charged to support the state’s development agenda and act as a unifying father figure to all in the community, regardless of background.https://punchng.com/abiodun-presents-staff-of-office-to-ogun-monarch/
