Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has approved the renaming of Edo State University, Uzairue, to Edo University, Iyamho. The announcement was made in a statement released in Benin by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Umar Ikhilor.
Ikhilor stated that the name change takes immediate effect, emphasizing that all official documents and records relating to the institution will now bear the new name. “Documentations in respect of the institution shall, henceforth, reflect the change,” he said.
This development marks a significant shift in the institution’s identity, aligning it with the governor’s vision for the university.
