OPay has announced plans to host the Empowering Futures Conference 2025 on October 31 at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, to commemorate the first anniversary of its landmark N1.2 billion 10-Year Scholarship Programme aimed at supporting education and youth development in Nigeria.
The event will bring together key stakeholders from academia, the private sector, and the media to review the impact of the initiative over the past year and explore new strategies to strengthen collaboration in driving social investment across the country.
Since its launch in 2024, OPay’s N1.2 billion Scholarship Programme has become a flagship component of the company’s corporate social responsibility vision. In its first year, the scheme successfully onboarded 20 tertiary institutions across Nigeria, enabling hundreds of students from all six geopolitical zones to access financial support for tuition, accommodation, and learning materials.
The upcoming conference will celebrate these achievements and also feature the official unveiling of the OPay CyberLab Initiative, a new project designed to enhance digital literacy and innovation in Nigeria’s higher institutions. The event will also spotlight the Graduate Recruitment Initiative, which connects top-performing graduates with employment opportunities within OPay’s ecosystem.
According to OPay’s Chief Commercial Officer, Elizabeth Wang, the company’s initiatives reflect its broader mission to empower young Nigerians with education and technology-driven opportunities. “At OPay, our belief is simple, access to quality education and technology creates lasting change,” she said. “Through the Scholarship Programme, Graduate Recruitment, and now the CyberLab Initiative, we’re helping young Nigerians turn potential into purpose. The Empowering Futures Conference is our way of celebrating these strides and inspiring even greater collaboration for national impact.”
