The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the safe release of six Nigerian Law School students from the Yola Campus who were kidnapped last week.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edet Udeme, made the announcement in a statement issued in Makurdi on Friday, August 1, 2025. She revealed that the students, who were abducted on July 26 along the Joota–Wukari Federal Highway, regained their freedom in the early hours of Friday.

“They have been released and reunited with their families this morning, Aug. 1,” she stated.

According to Udeme, the students were rescued on the High Tension Road in Wukari, Taraba State, after days in captivity. She added that the victims were first taken to the Ukum Divisional Police Headquarters in Benue for documentation and medical checks before being handed over to their families.

The police did not disclose whether a ransom was paid or the circumstances surrounding their release, but reassured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the culprits responsible for the abduction.
