Police evacuate electrocuted vandal at Borno varsity as authorities warn against attacks on public infrastructure following a tragic incident on Sunday at Borno State University, Maiduguri.

The Borno State Police Command confirmed that the unidentified man died after attempting to vandalize a transformer on the university premises.

In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer Kenneth Daso said, “Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was electrocuted in an attempt to vandalise electrical installations.”

Daso explained that the police, working with the state fire service, evacuated the body and launched a full investigation. “The Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, once again warns criminal elements to desist from acts of vandalism and sabotage, as such endangers lives and compromises public safety,” he added.

This incident mirrors similar tragedies across the country despite continuous **Federal Government sensitization on vandalism dangers.

In January, suspected vandals died in separate incidents in Ogun State and the Federal Capital Territory while tampering with electricity installations. The Transmission Company of Nigeria has repeatedly urged communities to protect public infrastructure and report suspicious activities promptly.

The police evacuation of the electrocuted vandal at Borno varsity underscores the growing need for public cooperation in safeguarding power facilities nationwide.
