Nurudeen Mu’azu Maifata, acting rector of Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic Lafia, underscored the vital role of quantity surveying in shaping polytechnic education.

During a solidarity visit from the state chapter of the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveying (NIQS), Maifata emphasized the necessity for a collaborative approach between industry practice and academia to enhance educational outcomes.

Maifata expressed his commitment to fostering a conducive environment for teaching and learning, highlighting that quantity surveying holds equal priority alongside other engineering and technical education courses at the institution.

He acknowledged the institution’s longstanding goal of providing quality education and professional training that aligns with industry needs.

The acting rector pointed out that key areas such as professional training, research development, and human capital experiences are crucial for the profession’s advancement.

He called for a strong synergy between academic institutions and professional bodies to ensure that graduates possess the skills, professionalism, and competencies required in the competitive job market.

In his remarks, QS. Ibrahim Mohammed Otaki, Chairman of NIQS, expressed the organization’s readiness to collaborate with the Polytechnic. He emphasized the importance of strengthening professional education and expertise among students to align with international best practices.

Otaki commended the efforts of Maifata and his team for their commitment to advancing technical education within the institution.

The meeting, which included notable attendees such as the Deputy Rector (Administration), Ahmad Jubrin Ibrahim, Deputy Rector (Academic), Louis John Ogah, Registrar, Zamani Habu Ibrahim, and Bursar, Zainab Dalhatu, highlighted the collective vision of enhancing the quality of quantity surveying education in Nigeria.
