Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management (RECTEM) has formally matriculated 212 students for the 2024/2025 academic session, with a stern warning from the institution’s Rector, Dr Stella Mofunanya, against all forms of misconduct.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mofunanya made it clear that the school will not hesitate to expel any student found engaging in social vices. “There is no shortcut to success,” she declared, stressing that the successful completion of any programme requires regular attendance, commitment to continuous assessment, and strict avoidance of misconduct.
She maintained that the institution operates on firm principles and expects all students to abide by its rules. “We have zero tolerance for cultism, hooliganism, corruption, examination malpractice and other forms of social menace,” she stated. Participation in chapel activities, she added, is also non-negotiable for all students.
Reiterating RECTEM’s commitment to holistic education, Mofunanya said the institution seeks to raise students who not only excel academically but also develop strong character. “We recognise that education is not just about acquiring knowledge and skills, but also entails sound character and integrity. We are committed to developing well-rounded individuals equipped to make a positive impact in their communities,” she said.
Also speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof. Idris Bugaje, affirmed that RECTEM students are being equipped with skills that will make them self-reliant and capable of becoming employers of labour.
Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, assured the new students that their admission was processed through proper channels. He praised RECTEM for its integrity and recent hosting of over 50 admission officers for a training programme, noting that JAMB has automated its services to enhance transparency and efficiency.
