Lagos State University (LASU) has congratulated one of its distinguished PhD students, Mr. Oluwatobi Idowu, on his recent appointment as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Transportation.
The university community, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, lauded the appointment as a proud moment for LASU and a “significant achievement and a further testament to the calibre of world-class professionals produced by the university.”
She praised Mr. Idowu for his “dedication and excellence,” adding, “We are confident that he will make meaningful contributions in his new role.”
Mr. Idowu is not only a doctoral student at LASU but also a former student leader renowned for his commitment to governance and institutional reform. During his undergraduate years, he was actively involved in student unionism and notably served as Chairman of the Independent Electoral Committee in 2016, where he supervised an election exercise described as “transparent and well-coordinated.” His efforts earned him and his committee a formal letter of commendation from the university management.
Until his latest appointment, Tobi Idowu served as Executive Assistant to the Special Adviser on Transportation to the Governor, where he played a key role in providing technical and administrative support. His work included liaising with heads of transport agencies to facilitate reform efforts and implement initiatives that aligned with the state’s transportation development goals.
A recognised thought leader in governance and public sector reform, Mr. Idowu’s elevation to Senior Special Assistant is being seen as both a reward for diligence and a call to further service.
