Security guard at Kano commits suicide inside classroom

A 37-year-old security guard identified as Nurudeen Shehu was discovered lifeless inside a classroom at Prestige International College in Kano, having taken his own life reportedly due to the distressing news of his ex-wife’s remarriage.

The state Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, confirmed the incident, shedding light on the details surrounding the tragic event.

According to Gumel, the distressing discovery was made on Sunday at approximately 10:30 am when Abdullahi Abdulsalam of Rijiyar Zaki reported finding Shehu hanging motionless in one of the college’s classrooms. Prompt response from the Gwale Division police, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), involved cutting the rope and rushing the lifeless body to Murtala Mohammed General Hospital. A doctor on duty at the hospital later confirmed Shehu’s demise, and his remains were subsequently released to his grieving family for burial.

The root cause of Shehu’s despair was reportedly linked to the news of his ex-wife’s remarriage, prompting Commissioner Gumel to announce a commitment to a thorough investigation. The police aim to unravel the circumstances leading to this tragic turn of events and bring clarity to the situation.
