Addressing the 3,195 newly admitted students for the 2023/2024 academic session, Prof. Bashir emphasized the importance of upholding the university’s values and avoiding behaviors such as cultism and examination malpractice that could derail their educational pursuits.

During the administration of the oath ceremony on Thursday, Prof. Bashir underscored the significance of students’ roles as representatives of both their families and the university community. He urged them to approach their studies with diligence, emphasizing that academic success not only benefits the individual but also reflects positively on their families and the wider society.

Furthermore, Prof. Bashir emphasized the university’s role as a crucible for grooming future leaders poised to make a positive impact on society. He implored the students to adhere to the institution’s rules and regulations, underscoring the importance of character development alongside academic achievement.

In his closing remarks, Prof. Bashir reiterated the university’s commitment to excellence, reminding the students that degrees from Sokoto State University are bestowed upon those who demonstrate both intellectual prowess and moral integrity.
