Soludo appoints Odinkalu as Pro-Chancellor of Ojukwu University

In a significant move aimed at bolstering the academic and administrative leadership of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Governor Chukwuma Soludo has appointed Professor Chidi Odinkalu as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the university.

Professor Odinkalu, a highly respected scholar and former chairman of the Nigerian Human Rights Commission, brings a wealth of experience and a strong reputation for integrity and excellence to his new role. His appointment is seen as a strategic step towards elevating the standards and global reputation of COOU.

Governor Soludo’s Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, released a statement outlining the governor’s vision for the new council. “The new Council, assembled with a focus on excellence, integrity, and strategic leadership, will provide guidance and oversight for the continued growth and development of the state-owned university,” the statement read.

Among the notable members of the newly constituted council is Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the wife of the late Igbo leader Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, whose legacy the university honors. Her involvement is expected to bring a blend of historical insight and strategic vision to the council’s activities.

The full list of council members includes:

Professor Chidi Odinkalu (Pro-Chancellor/Chairman)

Chief (Mrs) Ifeoma Ekwueme
