In a landmark achievement for Nigeria’s education sector, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has secured the commitment of the Qatar Foundation to partner with the Federal Government in addressing the challenge of over 15 million out-of-school children, including Almajiri pupils, across the country.
During a high-level meeting with Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser Al-Missned, Founder and Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation, held in Doha, Qatar, both parties agreed to collaborate on a transformative education model designed to integrate Islamic and formal learning.
The new model will provide modern, inclusive, and safe learning environments equipped with boarding facilities, mosques, and skill acquisition centres, ensuring that children receive both academic and moral education while acquiring life skills relevant to their communities.
As part of the partnership, the Qatar Foundation also pledged to support the training of teachers and school handlers, guaranteeing quality and sustainability in the delivery of education.
The initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to educational reform and social inclusion, marking a major step toward ending the out-of-school crisis in Nigeria.
This collaboration is expected to empower millions of children with the knowledge and skills necessary to build a brighter and more prosperous future for themselves and the nation.
