The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has charged educators to train students on safety and security tips, in a bid to eradicate kidnapping among other security challenges affecting schools in the country.

NSCDC Director, Public Relations, Olusola Odumosu, gave the call during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

He equally charged school operators to employ private security guards registered with the corps to ensure students’ safety.

Odumosu said that it was vital for school operators and owners to conduct background checks on the private guard companies (PGCs) including their working synergy and history with the NSCDC.

The director said that the list of all registered PGCs was readily available at the NSCDC headquarters, Abuja and state commands nationwide.

According to him, by checking if a PGC has been licensed, the school would be said to have taken extra security precautionary measures to ensure the safety of schools and its students.
