TRCN inducts 376 LASU graduates into teaching profession

The Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) ceremoniously welcomed 376 graduates from Lagos State University, Ojo, into the esteemed teaching profession on Tuesday.

This momentous event was disclosed by Professor Solomon Makinde, the Dean of the Faculty of Education at LASU, during the induction ceremony held in Lagos.

Emphasizing LASU’s commitment to providing students with a comprehensive curriculum, digital proficiency, and rigorous teaching practice, Prof. Makinde underscored the institution’s dedication to bridging gaps within the teaching sector of Africa’s fifth-largest economy.

“In line with this commitment, the faculty is actively pursuing approval from the university to initiate an Executive Pedagogy Programme tailored for unregistered lecturers. This initiative aims to enhance their competencies, leading to professionalization and subsequent registration with the TRCN,” stated Makinde.
He further highlighted the imperative of professional teaching standards in elevating the foundational pillars of the nation, asserting, “Professionalism in teaching is indispensable for enhancing our nation’s educational standards.”

Makinde elucidated that the imperative to uphold, enhance, and safeguard the esteemed quality and stature of educators and teaching professionals prompted the establishment of the TRCN under Decree 31 of 1993, now recognized as TRCN CAP T3 of 2004.

The TRCN, operating under the aegis of the Federal Ministry of Education, was founded with the primary objective of regulating and overseeing the teaching profession across all levels of Nigeria’s educational landscape, encompassing both public and private sectors.
