TRCN urges Ondo teachers to master digital skills for global success

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has passionately called on newly inducted teachers to enhance their proficiency in digital technology.

This directive aims to ensure that they remain competitive on the global stage, emphasizing the growing importance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the teaching profession.

The call to action was made by Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, the esteemed Registrar and Chief Executive of TRCN, during the second induction ceremony at Adeyemi Federal University of Education, located in the heart of Ondo town, Ondo State.

Ajiboye highlighted the critical need for integrating ICT into teaching methods, asserting that such skills are indispensable for teachers to thrive in today’s interconnected world.

A remarkable total of 1,460 graduates, boasting qualifications ranging from National Certificates in Education to bachelor’s and master’s degrees, were proudly inducted during the ceremony

He depicted teaching not just as a noble vocation but also a lucrative career crucial to nation-building. He urged these fresh educators to relentlessly pursue self-improvement and embrace ICT skills, thereby placing themselves on par with their global counterparts.

“Take the certificate given to you to any part of the world, and you will be recognised,” Prof. Ajiboye assured the graduates. “With this certificate and license, you are authorized to practice the profession anywhere globally.”

The event also featured a warm welcome address by Samuel Akintunde, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Adeyemi Federal University of Education.

Akintunde heralded the event as a significant milestone and lauded TRCN’s dedication to excellence and professionalism within the teaching profession.

He extended his congratulations to the inductees, urging them to leverage their training to mentor and guide their students.

Akintunde further impressed upon the new teachers the importance of upholding professional ethics by embodying integrity, creativity, inclusivity, and an unyielding commitment to lifelong learning.

In a resonant call to action, Olufisayo Fakorede, Acting Registrar of the institution, encouraged the inductees to maintain high teaching standards and pursue ongoing professional development through various programs, both domestically and internationally.
