The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Aisha Garba, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s basic education system through collaboration with key stakeholders across the country.
Speaking after a stakeholders’ consultation held in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State, Dr. Garba disclosed that UBEC is working closely with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes access to quality education nationwide.
The event, which drew a large gathering of royal fathers, clergymen, community leaders, and residents of Tarka, was described as a heroic welcome for Senator Akume, whom Dr. Garba hailed as “a friend of the nation” and a steadfast advocate of educational advancement.
“As part of our mandate, UBEC will intervene in the refurbishment of schools and the provision of ICT equipment in Benue and other states across Nigeria through partnerships with the State Universal Basic Education Boards,” Garba stated.
She emphasized that these interventions are designed to enhance teaching and learning outcomes while ensuring that every Nigerian child has access to quality basic education.
Garba was accompanied on the historic visit by UBEC’s Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical), the Director of Planning and Policy, and her Special Adviser.
