The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has signed a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with DLN aimed at transforming the landscape of basic education in Nigeria through large-scale digital integration.
In a statement shared by Aisha Garba on Monday, UBEC announced that the project will deliver 47 million laptops and tablets to learners and teachers across pre-primary, primary, and junior secondary schools in Nigeria at zero cost to the Federal and State Governments.
According to Garba, the initiative goes beyond device distribution. “Alongside the devices, there will be free data access to AI-assisted learning content, teacher training in partnership with NTI, and regional hubs for assembling and distributing devices, which will create jobs and build local expertise,” she said.
The partnership, she added, is firmly aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the National Policy on Education, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“This project is a testament to our collective commitment with the Presidency, the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, and our partners to bridge the digital divide, improve access, and raise the quality of basic education for every Nigerian child, no matter their location or background,” Garba stated.
She noted that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marked “another milestone in fulfilling our mandate at UBEC.”
