The University of Ibadan (UI) has announced the deadline for the special admission window into her Open, Distance, and e-Learning (ODeL) undergraduate programmes.
The institution urged all candidates currently undergoing screening or planning to apply to complete all necessary requirements before the deadline.
In a statement issued by the Director of the UI Distance Learning Centre (DLC), Prof. Babatunde Omobowale, the university noted that the UI-ODeL model provides a flexible pathway to earning a prestigious University of Ibadan degree.
He explained that the initiative offers opportunities for qualified candidates who could not secure placement through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) due to quota limits in traditional classroom settings. It also caters to individuals who require flexible study options due to work or personal commitments, as well as those seeking a reputable alternative academic pathway.
According to Prof. Omobowale, matriculation for newly admitted students will hold on Saturday, October 30, 2025, at the University of Ibadan International Conference Centre (ICC).
He described the event as a landmark and compulsory ceremony that formally inducts new students into the university community.
The ceremony will feature a special highlight. Matriculation Lectures to be delivered by distinguished alumni who graduated with First-Class honours through the ODeL programme.
The speakers include Mr. Olalekan Akolade Abass (Computer Science), who will share insights on mastering the flexible learning environment; Mr. Akindubi Jelili Babatunde (Psychology), who will speak on models for achieving academic excellence at UI; and Mr. Okoye Mark (Political Science), who will discuss opportunities available to UI-ODeL students and graduates.
The centre also reiterated that applicants must possess five relevant O-Level credits in one sitting or six in two sittings, and may apply to any of the following programmes:
Sciences: Computer Science, Statistics
Social Sciences: Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Political Sciences f
Humanities & Education: Philosophy and Public Affairs, Communication and Language Arts, English, Social Work, Educational Management, Guidance and Counselling, and Library and Information Studies.
The final application and update deadline is midnight, Friday, October 10, 2025.
