UN Education Fund names Guinean journo as Global Champion

Accomplished journalist Folly Bah Thibault has been appointed as a Global Champion for Education Cannot Wait (ECW), the United Nations global fund for education in emergencies and protracted crises.

With her extensive experience as a journalist for Al Jazeera, Bah Thibault has become one of the most recognized and respected voices in the media and education industry globally. She has covered some of the world’s most important news stories and brought attention to forgotten crises across the globe.

Bah Thibault was born in Conakry, Guinea, and received her education at Howard University and American University in the United States. She began her career as a journalist with Radio France International and later joined France24 television as an anchor before moving to Al Jazeera English as a principal presenter in 2010 and relocating to Qatar.

Apart from her exceptional work as a journalist, Bah Thibault is also a world-renowned moderator and public speaker. In 2019, she launched her foundation, Elle Ira à l’Ecole, with the goal of providing young girls in Guinea access to education.

Her appointment as a Global Champion for ECW reinforces the importance of education in emergency situations and protracted crises. Bah Thibault’s vast experience and expertise in journalism will undoubtedly serve as an asset in raising awareness and advocating for the need for education in challenging situations.
