UNILORIN lecturer Amolegbe Recognised as featured Economist by International Economic Association

Khadijat Busola Amolegbe PhD, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria,in a prestigious acknowledgment of her contributions to the field of economics has been named the International Economic Association’s Featured Economist for March 2024.

Dr. Amolegbe’s accolade comes as a result of her extensive work at the intersection of agriculture and development economics. Her research, which encompasses vital issues such as food security, poverty alleviation, women’s empowerment, climate change, and rural digitalisation, has garnered international attention for its impact on global economic discourse.

Notably, Dr. Amolegbe serves as a Principal Investigator on a USAID-funded project under the Feed the Future MRR Innovation Lab’s Advancing Local Leadership, Innovation, and Networks (ALL-IN) program at the University of California, Davis. Her academic journey has seen her collaborate with renowned institutions worldwide, including Cornell University, the University of Oxford’s Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE), and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA).

Her expertise extends beyond academia, as she has also lent her insights as a consultant to organizations such as Mathematica, the Nordic Africa Institute (NAI), and the University of Georgia. Dr. Amolegbe’s commitment to rigorous research methodologies, including field experiments and mixed-method approaches, has led to numerous institutional publications and enriched the understanding of complex economic phenomena.

Dr. Amolegbe earned her Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, where she currently imparts knowledge to the next generation of economists.
