A medical student at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Shalom Adesina, has won the Gamaliel Onosode Award for Academic Excellence.

According to a statement signed by the Executive Director of Gamaliel & Susan Onosode Foundation, Toyin Olanrewaju, and made available to newsmen on Monday in Lagos, Adesina, who was an alumnus of Rehoboth College, Tanke, Ilorin, was honoured for his exceptional academic performance in the 2023/2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, where he achieved straight A’s in all subjects.

According to her, the award is instituted by GAMSU to reward academic excellence and inspire young minds across Nigeria.

She added that the Gamaliel Onosode Award for Academic Excellence includes both a certificate of recognition and a special gift for the recipient and the school.

“The award not only highlights individual brilliance but also underscores the recipient’s educational environment. In this case, it served as a testament to Rehoboth College’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and discipline,” Olanrewaju said.

She said that the celebration of excellence served as a beacon of inspiration for students nationwide, reinforcing the message that commitment and character truly yield enduring rewards.

She said the award ceremony, held at the premises of Rehoboth College, was attended by students, staff, and proud parents who gathered to celebrate Shalom’s remarkable success.

For Adesina’s parents, the recognition was deeply emotional and fulfilling.

Speaking at the event, they described the award as a powerful affirmation of the values they hold dear – hard work, resilience, and faith and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the public acknowledgement of their son’s dedication and success.
