The teaching hospital donated by Folorunso Alakija, PhD, the chancellor to Osun State University, Osogbo, is nearing completion at an impressive 85 per cent.

The hospital is expected to be inaugurated in the near future, according to UNIOSUN.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Clement Adebooye, shared this update during the third distinguished personality lecture of the College of Law, held at the Ifetedo campus.

The VC revealed that in addition to Alakija’s contribution, Peter Ishola, a Nigerian based in America, also donated a professorial suite worth millions of naira to accommodate 10 professors at the Ikire campus.

“The university has received commendable infrastructural support from both the Federal Government of Nigeria and TETFund,” Adebooye said, while praising Governor Ademola Adeleke for approving the completion of a two-story, 57-office complex for the College of Health Sciences.

Adebooye expressed his optimism, stating, “In the coming months, UNIOSUN will boast the finest Teaching Hospital in Nigeria, courtesy of our Chancellor, Apostle (Dr) Folorunso Alakija. She graciously donated over N34 billion for this purpose in Osogbo. The construction is already 85% complete, and we anticipate commissioning it in the third quarter of the year.”

Speaking on the topic of the lecture, “The Supreme Court of Nigeria and Recent Developments in Public Law,”Adebooye acknowledged its significance in national and global contexts, given the multitude of activities in the socio-political landscape.
