The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) in Rivers State has conferred an honorary Doctorate Degree on Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State in recognition of his distinguished service in governance, public leadership, and national development.
The special convocation ceremony took place on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the university’s main campus and attracted dignitaries from across Nigeria.
Present at the event were academic leaders, traditional rulers, senior government officials, and other notable personalities who gathered to celebrate Governor Fintiri’s contributions to national progress.
Governor Fintiri, who has led Adamawa State since 2019, has earned widespread acclaim for his strategic investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and youth development. His administration has built and renovated schools, modernized healthcare systems, constructed thousands of kilometers of road networks, and launched employment initiatives for young people. He also introduced scholarship schemes and educational reforms that have improved school enrollment and literacy levels across the state.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Fintiri expressed his gratitude to UNIPORT for the honor, describing it as a tribute to the collective effort of the people of Adamawa State.
“This recognition is not just for me, but for the people of Adamawa State,” he said. “It is a testament to what purposeful leadership can achieve.”
He further stated, “I am deeply honored by this award. It encourages me to keep working hard to improve lives, not just in Adamawa but across Nigeria.”
Governor Fintiri dedicated the honorary degree to the people of his state, acknowledging their support and trust as the cornerstone of his administration’s success.
