There is an indication that academic activities resume in universities next week as the sum of 35.4 billion has been released to cater to the needs of the aggrieved lecturers across the nation.
According to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Ngige, the release of fund to the universities is an indication that the federal government is sensitive to the needs of the lecturers.
At the meeting held with Academic Staff Union of Universities ASSU, last night, the Minister assured the leadership of the union that the release of the fund will be perfected Thursday this week so that by Monday nextweek academic activities resume in all the universities.
The Minister also stated at the meeting that the sum of 20 billion has been promised to cater for the arreas of salaries owed by the federal government.
