The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) organises yearly is a Nigerian entrance examination, for prospective undergraduates seeking admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

JAMB was established in 1978 to centralise the admissions process and reduce the burden of multiple entrance exams for students seeking admission into higher institutions in Nigeria.

The board is also responsible for conducting other exams, including the Direct Entry (DE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The UTME is usually conducted annually, and it tests the candidates’ knowledge in four subjects: English Language, and three other subjects relevant to the candidate’s chosen course of study.

To score above 300 in JAMB 2023, you need to prepare well and follow a systematic approach to studying. Here are some tips that may help:

1. Start early: Begin your JAMB preparation early. Don’t wait until the exam date is near before you start studying. Give yourself enough time to cover all the topics in the syllabus.

2. Know the exam format: Familiarise yourself with the JAMB exam format. Know the number of questions, duration, and types of questions that will be asked.

3. Get the right study materials: Get the JAMB syllabus and recommended textbooks. Use past questions and answers to practice and familiarize yourself with the types of questions that will be asked.

4. Create a study plan: Create a study plan that covers all the topics in the JAMB syllabus. Allocate enough time for each topic and ensure you stick to your plan.

5. Attend tutorials: Attend JAMB tutorials or join a study group. This will help you stay motivated and learn from others.

6. Practice, practice, practice: Practice past questions and answers as much as possible. This will help you identify areas you need to improve on and also help you manage your time during the exam.

7. Stay focused: Stay focused and avoid distractions. Ensure you have a conducive study environment.

8. Manage your time well: Manage your time well during the exam. Don’t spend too much time on a question. If you’re not sure of the answer, move on to the next question and come back to it later.

9. Stay calm: Stay calm during the exam. Don’t panic if you don’t know the answer to a question. Take a deep breath and think through the question.

10: Solve past questions: You may be shocked to know that JAMB doesn’t have new questions all that they do is recycle questions yearly. You may be dancing to a very high score with your solving of past questions. It helps you to know the style and pattern deployed by the examination body.

By following these tips, you will be well on your way to scoring above 300 in JAMB 2023.
