VC urges Leaders to be Role Models, Positive Agents

The vice chancellor, University of Uyo (UNIUYO), Prof. Enefiok Essien (SAN) has enjoined those in position of authority to see themselves as role model for the younger generation.

According to him, exhibiting such qualities as commitment, determination, perseverance and accountability would positively influence those looking onto them to emulate.

He made these assertions at a reception in honour of the institution’s registrar, Mr Aniediabasi Udofia, by the people of Nist Ibom community. Essien described the registrar as a dependable ally and urged him to sustain the status quo of being a credible and dependable worker in the university community.

“I want to advise you to continue to prove yourself credible because your people and indeed the university community will constantly look up to you as their ambassador and inspiration to the younger generation”, he said.He commended the people of Nsit Ibom for honouring one of their own, reminding that the council had earlier produced two former registrars.

In his remarks, Chairman, Nsit Ibom Professional Association, Ime Obot said the body decided to join in celebrating Udofia because of his integrity and professional track records.

He assured the Registrar of the body’s readiness to support him to succeed and deliver excellent services in his new assignment.
Udofia in his remarks enjoined youths to devout their time to securing an enduring future through hard work, commitment and perseverance.

“Nigeria is in trouble today because our youths are not getting it right; life is not all about money, so struggling to acquire everything over night is not just right. A materialistic life style does not guarantee a bright future”, he said.

He also charged the elders to be role models to the younger generation noting that such influence led him to whatever he has achieved in life today.
