Vigilantes foil Ibadan cultists’ plot at Kwara Polytechnic

Over the weekend, the team apprehended two young men who, during interrogation, confessed that they had come from Ibadan with the intention of terrorizing students. According to the suspects, they were members of a cult group and had arrived in Ilorin for an “operation” before making the polytechnic their base.

The Chairman of Ilorin South Local Government Council, Hon. Podo, has taken swift and decisive steps to safeguard students of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, following persistent reports of criminal activities in and around the campus.

Responding to the growing threats, Hon. Podo deployed a newly recruited contingent of local government vigilantes to the institution with a clear mission — “to protect students and restore safety on campus.”

Over the weekend, the team apprehended two young men who, during interrogation, confessed that they had come from Ibadan with the intention of terrorizing students. According to the suspects, they were members of a cult group and had arrived in Ilorin for an “operation” before making the polytechnic their base.

Recovered from them were several mobile phones believed to be stolen and a cutlass allegedly used in their operations.

Hon. Podo confirmed that the suspects have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.
