The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily shut down its results checker portal, waecdirect.org, due to technical issues that have made it inaccessible to candidates.
The disruption came less than 24 hours after the official release of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.
Thousands of candidates reportedly rushed to check their results, overwhelming the system and resulting in the technical hiccup.
In a brief announcement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, WAEC acknowledged the issue and assured the public that its technical team is actively working to restore access to the platform.
“WAEC hereby informs the general public that the result checker portal #waecdirect.org is temporarily shutdown due to technical issues. However, the Council is working assiduously to ensure that candidates are able to access their results in the next 24 hours. Please bear with us,” the statement read.
The Council urged candidates to remain patient as efforts are underway to fully restore the portal within the stipulated timeframe.
