In a remarkable celebration of youth excellence and merit, the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comrade Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, has honoured three outstanding teenagers as official “Warri Brand Ambassadors.” The recognition came as part of the council’s broader effort to promote academic excellence, talent, and positive role modelling among young people in the region.
The newly decorated ambassadors are Ebule Oritsemeyiwa Precious, McCarthy Oritsetseyigbemi Jessy, and Adekunle Oluwasegun David, all of whom have demonstrated distinction in their respective fields.
Ebule Oritsemeyiwa Precious, who scored an impressive 334 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), was rewarded with a four-year university scholarship from the Local Government.
McCarthy Oritsetseyigbemi Jessy, recipient of the 2025 NDLEA National Award, was awarded a scholarship covering her 2025 school fees, amounting to ₦2,139,000.
Adekunle Oluwasegun David, a talented young saxophonist, was also recognised for his musical talent and gifted ₦500,000 to support his education and creative growth.
Speaking at the brief decoration ceremony held at the Warri South Local Government Secretariat, Comrade Agbateyiniro said the honour was in line with the vision of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda — a governance blueprint focused on inclusivity, development and reward for merit.
“The name Warri is a brand, and those who represent this brand must be individuals who stand for excellence and integrity. These young people have proven themselves. They are not just doing well; they are leading by example,” the Chairman said.
He emphasised the importance of rewarding excellence publicly, noting that when young achievers are celebrated, it motivates others to strive for distinction.
“To our Warri Brand Ambassadors, you now carry the responsibility of representing this city with honour. If any one of you strays from the path of excellence, this honour can be revoked. You are role models now,” he warned.
The Council’s Supervisory Councillor for Human Capital Development, Princess Misan Eke, also commended the honourees, describing them as worthy ambassadors who have shown clear capacity both in academics and creative arts.
In addition to the youth recognitions, the Council also acknowledged Mr Jolly Omatie, a volunteer teacher at Ukpotiki Primary School in the riverine Ukpokiti community. In appreciation of his commitment, he will now receive a monthly stipend of ₦77,000 from the local government.
The three teenagers and their families expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Council for the recognition and support. They pledged to continue upholding the values of excellence and merit that earned them the honour.
This gesture by the Warri South Local Government is a significant statement about the power of local leadership to drive motivation, reinforce positive values, and invest in the long-term development of its youth through tangible recognition and support.
