Yobe corps members hold unity walk to mark NYSC 50th anniversary

Yobe State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator, Mrs Hafsat Yerima, has led hundreds of corps members and members of staff on a walk through some major streets of Damaturu metropolis, the state capital.

According to Yerima, the walk was embarked on to mark the 50th anniversary of the NYSC sheme.The nationwide anniversary began with a unity walk to kick start a chain of events that will last for one week.

The walk had corps members carrying banners and placards with various inscriptions depicting the giant strides of the scheme in the five decades of its existence.

Earlier before the commencement of the walk, the state coordinator addressed the gathering.

She stated that the NYSC is celebrating 50 years of selfless service to humanity, committed and dedicated sacrifice to nation-building as well as developmental strides in all national spheres.

The coordinator thanked individuals and corporate bodies as well as governments and all stakeholders for their unflinching support to the NYSC Scheme over the years.

She enjoined corps members to continue to be good ambassadors of the scheme in all their activities.
