Youth celebrate Delta poly rector for transformative leadership, infrastructural milestones

The Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi Uku, Professor Emmanuel Achuenu, has been honoured with the prestigious Niger Delta Youth Council Merit Award.

This accolade, bestowed by the umbrella body representing youths from the nine oil-bearing states, underscores Prof. Achuenu’s unwavering commitment to innovation, development, and fostering a collaborative environment within the institution.

The award ceremony, held at the polytechnic’s permanent site, was a testament to Prof. Achuenu’s transformative impact since his assumption of office three years ago. Comrade Ufuoma Victor Erharhine, the leader of the delegation, lauded the rector for his exemplary leadership qualities and his dedication to substantial infrastructural improvements.

“Within a short span, Prof. Achuenu has set a new benchmark for leadership and development in educational institutions,” Erharhine remarked.

Highlighting Prof. Achuenu’s notable achievements, Erharhine emphasized the completion of a 325-capacity lecture hall, the establishment of a seamless solar power supply, and enhanced illumination across the institution. These advancements have significantly improved the learning environment and operational efficiency of the polytechnic.

“The effects of your contributions might not be fully evident today, but they have undoubtedly laid a solid foundation for future progress,” Erharhine added.

In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Prof. Achuenu attributed the institution’s successes to the collective efforts of the management, staff, and students. He stressed that a harmonious and cooperative atmosphere is crucial for achieving remarkable feats.

“This award is a recognition of our collective dedication and hard work. It is a testament to what can be accomplished when there is unity and a shared vision,” Prof. Achuenu stated.

The rector also expressed his hope that future leadership would continue to build upon the standards set during his tenure. He commended the Niger Delta Youth Council for their commitment to promoting leadership excellence and for recognizing the significant contributions made by individuals in various fields of human endeavour
