In 2019, Zainab Abdullahi made history at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto by becoming the first woman to graduate with a First Class Honours degree in Physics.
In what looks like a resurrection Zainab’ story is currently making waves online after four years.
The 22-year-old’s remarkable achievement is made even more impressive by the fact that she was the only female among the graduates to achieve this distinction. Her outstanding academic performance earned her a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.81, which is a testament to her hard work, dedication and passion for the subject.
Zainab’s achievement has inspired many young women who aspire to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, which are traditionally male-dominated. She has broken down barriers and paved the way for other women to follow in her footsteps.
Speaking about her achievement, Zainab said, “I am overwhelmed and grateful to God for this opportunity to make history at my university. I hope that my success will inspire other women to pursue their dreams and excel in whatever they choose to do.”
Zainab’s parents, who are both teachers, expressed their pride in their daughter’s achievement, saying that they had always encouraged her to work hard and pursue her passion for science.
The Vice-Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Professor Lawal Bilbis, congratulated Zainab on her outstanding performance and praised her for breaking barriers and setting a new standard of excellence for women in STEM fields.
Zainab’s achievement is a testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and passion for one’s chosen field. She has proved that with determination, anything is possible, and has become a role model for young women everywhere.
