Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved the reinstatement of 103 teachers whose salaries were suspended earlier this year following a statewide verification exercise.

The governor also authorised the payment of seven months’ salary arrears, covering January to July 2025.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mallam Wadatau Madawaki, disclosed this on Friday in Gusau.

He said the affected teachers were among 780 civil servants impacted by the verification exercise conducted in January, which led to the suspension of their salaries.

Madawaki explained that the reinstated teachers were among 780 civil servants affected by the government’s verification exercise earlier this year, which led to the suspension of their salaries.

“Those reinstated were cleared after undergoing a thorough verification process. It was discovered that their salaries were stopped due to administrative errors or omissions,” – he
said.

According to the commissioner, the affected workers’ salaries had been halted since January 2025. However, Governor Dauda Lawal has approved their reinstatement, including the payment of salary arrears from January to July 2025.

“After we wrote to His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal, to consider the reinstatement of the affected teachers, and upon further verification, the Governor graciously approved their return to service,” Madawaki added.
He noted that the verification exercise was aimed at sanitizing the state’s workforce. Madawaki urged the reinstated teachers to demonstrate commitment and dedication in their duties, warning against actions that could undermine the education sector.

Madawaki reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening the education system and implementing reforms that promote efficiency and transparency.
