The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), is enveloped in concern following the disappearance of a 500-level Pharmacy student, Ugwu Mark Chukwuebuka, known affectionately to his friends as Buka T. The 25-year-old student, who hails from Ibagwa Nsukka in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, was last seen on Tuesday, July 23, around 5 PM after receiving a phone call to collect a waybill from the Peace Mass Transit park.

Chukwuebuka had informed his friends that he was heading out to pick up the waybill, yet he neither returned to his school residence nor his family home.

Since his departure, no communication has been received from him, leaving his friends and family in a state of deep concern.

Chidera Ugwuegbu, a close family friend, shared with SaharaReporters that Chukwuebuka answered a call from an unknown mobile number, which prompted his visit to the transit park. This call remains a focal point in the investigation due to its mysterious nature.

In a bid to locate the missing student, Chukwuebuka’s family reported his disappearance to the UNN security services and the local police station on Thursday, July 25. Despite assurances from the police that efforts are underway and that Chukwuebuka will be found soon, his whereabouts remain unknown, exacerbating the family’s anguish.

When questioned about whether Chukwuebuka had any disputes or conflicts prior to his disappearance, Chidera firmly negated the possibility, describing him as a peaceful individual with no known issues with others.

“He is a very peaceful person and never troublesome,” Chidera stated, further deepening the mystery surrounding his sudden disappearance.

The incident has sparked widespread concern among the student community and residents of Nsukka, who are now rallying for any information that could lead to Chukwuebuka’s safe return. Social media platforms have been flooded with posts and updates seeking public assistance in locating the missing student.

The University administration has also expressed its commitment to aiding the investigation and ensuring the safety of its students. In a statement, a university spokesperson urged anyone with information regarding Chukwuebuka’s whereabouts to come forward and assist the authorities.
