Governor of Edo state,Godwin Obaseki, has sustained basic education sector transformation agenda is distributing 1.5 million books to elementary schools. He gave the assurance during the unveiling of the over one million, five hundred books to be distributed to schools across the state.
In 2018, Obaseki’s administration introduced the Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation (EdoBEST) programme to stem the slide in basic education delivery in the state.
Since then, the programme has addressed several challenges facing the education system especially in the junior schools.
In its continued quest to reform the sector, the state government kick-started a week long programme Education Week with the theme, “Education for alaghodaro, investing in quality education and access for our children and youths” which is aimed at evaluating the programme achievements and bringing new ideas.
The World Bank representative and other keynote speakers at the event say there cant be meaningful development at any level of the economy without appropriate educational reforms in the country.
It is expected that the students will take advantage of this opportunities to improve themselves as the future of Nigeria lies with them.
