The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has presented two of its brightest stars with checks of one million Naira each.
Zafirah Eneyamire Isah, the standout graduate of the 2020/2021 Accounting Department, and Mariam Oiza Ibrahim, the exceptional scholar from the 2021/2022 Chemistry Department, received this generous reward for their outstanding achievements during the 6th and 7th convocations.
The funds were a realisation of a promise made by James Faleke during these memorable convocations.
As the cheques were handed to these deserving students, Akinwunmi Olayemi, the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Faleke for keeping his commitment.
He stressed the significance of this gesture in inspiring other students to strive for excellence.
In his address, Olayemi encouraged all students, irrespective of gender, to stay focused and dedicated to their studies.
He praised the two outstanding female recipients and urged them to continue their pursuit of academic excellence.
The VC advised Isah and Ibrahim to use the scholarship wisely, suggesting they consider furthering their education through postgraduate studies.
He revealed the university’s policy of offering employment opportunities to top-performing postgraduate students who maintain their stellar performance.
Olayemi also unveiled the university’s plans to consider its own graduates for employment opportunities within the institution, turning the spotlight on James Faleke and urging him to make this commendable reward an annual tradition to foster academic competitiveness.
Both recipients, Zafirah Eneyamire Isah and Mariam Oiza Ibrahim, expressed their profound gratitude to Faleke for his generous support.
Isah, brimming with joy, offered her blessings for the donor and vowed to put the funds to good use. Ibrahim, in her response, expressed her happiness and emphasized how the money would allow her to continue her educational journey, thanking the donor for his unwavering support.
