The Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Prof. Edward Olanipekun, has said the institution has announced the beginning the Pharmacy programme next session, 2024/2025 academic year.

He also urged the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering to expedite the commencement of Mechatronics Engineering.

Speaking during the matriculation ceremony for 6,738 new students for the 2023/2024 academic session, the VC stated, “The Pharmacy programme will commence in the 2024/2025 academic session. The inaugural Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy will soon be appointed for the programme’s unveiling.”

Additionally, the VC instructed the Directorate of Works and Services to install solar-powered lights at strategic locations across the campus to enhance security.

Olanipekun emphasised that EKSU was one of Nigeria’s most sought-after universities and advised new students to focus on their studies and avoid involvement with unregistered campus associations.

He cautioned existing students against harassing, intimidating, or bullying new students, warning that any such behavior would result in disciplinary action.

He urged new students to report any harassment or intimidation they experience to the appropriate university authorities for prompt action.

Recent events at Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science, and Technology, Ikere Ekiti, where two students were expelled following a viral video showing the assault and bullying of a coursemate, underscore the seriousness of the university’s stance against such misconduct.
