De Genius Olivet College, located in Ota, Ogun State, has been named the top school of the year 2024.

The college earned this distinction with its Bio-gas & Composite Homemade Machine project, which converts waste food into cooking gas and fertiliser.

According to a statement released by the school, it achieved this recognition at the project category exhibition organised by the Ogun State chapter of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria during its three-day annual convention in June.

De Genius Olivet College contested with over 200 schools.

The statement noted, “As winners in the state-level competition, the school will now represent Ogun State at the national competition scheduled for August.

The school’s proprietor, Mr Ipoola Omisore, expressed his appreciation to the students, teachers, and supporters, attributing the achievement to their hard work and commitment.
He also thanked parents for their unwavering support and acknowledged the divine grace that guided their success.

“We are now the sole representatives of our great state at the upcoming STAN national competition in August. This is a remarkable achievement for which we give thanks to God and everyone who contributed to our success. Olivet School continues to set the pace,” he remarked.

Omisore further disclosed that the school also secured third place in the junior category quiz competition, thereby qualifying for the final round.
