Lagos, Nigeria – The TECH IT! Digital Learning Festival, organized by The Creative Kids Zone Initiative (TCKZone), has reshaped the digital education landscape in Lagos State, delivering essential digital skills training to thousands of students across 600+ public secondary schools in a groundbreaking event on the 18th of September 2024.

With full approval from the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, and the unwavering support of all six Lagos State Educational Districts, the festival was a first of its kind, designed to introduce underserved students to the digital world through workshops, talks, and exhibitions.

The event culminated at the National Stadium in Surulere, which served as the alpha location, hosting 5,000 students in a large-scale, interactive digital learning experience. Meanwhile, over 600 public schools functioned as mini-centres, with teachers and volunteers leading synchronized digital literacy sessions across the state. This allowed students in even the most underserved communities to receive equal access to the festival’s life-changing content.

Oluwadamilola Ojo, Executive Director of TCKZone, reflected on the impact of the event: “This was more than an event—it was a turning point. For the first time, thousands of public school students in Lagos not only saw the future of digital literacy but became a part of it. We couldn’t have done this without the backing of the Ministry of Education and the support of our partners.”

The TECH IT! Festival, supported by Theirworld, is part of the larger Digital Skills Fellowship, which aims to close the digital skills gap and equip students with the tools they need to thrive in the global economy. The festival featured coding lessons, cybersecurity basics, and hands-on demonstrations, all designed to inspire and empower students from underserved communities.

This festival is a clear demonstration of what can be achieved when corporate partners, the government, and educational leaders unite to create an inclusive future for all students.
