Genius Hub, a human capital development organisation, is transforming Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria by incorporating Educational Technology (EdTech) into its programmes.

As demand for skilled workers rises in Nigeria’s evolving job market, Genius Hub aims to provide solutions that equip young people with the skills needed for the future.

Isimeme Whyte, Chief Operating Officer of Genius Hub, explained that the organisation’s mission is to enhance human capacity and promote economic empowerment. Since its inception, the organisation has impacted over 35,000 beneficiaries through various training programmes, including NABTEB-certified vocational skills, digital training, and entrepreneurship.

Whyte commented, “Are we equipping youths and learners with the skills for the jobs of tomorrow, or are we still entrenched in the education system of yesterday? Vocational education powered by EdTech is the answer.”

In response to the skills gap, Whyte shared that Genius Hub employs a blended learning approach, combining traditional vocational training with modern technology. The organisation has partnered with Alison, an online learning platform, to offer online vocational courses, making quality education accessible to a wider audience.

“By emphasising practical, hands-on experience through work-based learning opportunities such as internships and apprenticeships, we prepare learners for real-world challenges,” she said.

One of Genius Hub’s service divisions, Ewaen Studios, focuses on filmmaking, training students in industry-relevant skills such as lighting, directing, and video editing.

Whyte also highlighted the importance of integrating apprenticeships into their training programmes, which provide learners with the opportunity to practice skills in real-world environments and prepare for careers in their chosen fields.

“By blending innovative EdTech solutions with hands-on learning experiences, the organisation is empowering thousands of learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in an ever-evolving job market,” Whyte concluded.
