NEM Insurance has pledged its support to Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) by offering internship opportunities for students and introducing specialised courses in risk management and insurance.
This commitment was announced during a recent courtesy visit by Yabatech’s rector, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, to NEM Insurance’s headquarters in Lagos.
The visit underscored the mutual dedication of both institutions to bridging the gap between academia and the business world. NEM Insurance’s Managing Director, Andrew Ikekhua, expressed gratitude for the rector’s visit and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to fostering educational growth in Nigeria.
“At NEM Insurance, we understand how important education is in determining our country’s future. We’re dedicated to supporting programmes that get students ready for the ever-changing needs of the workforce,” Ikekhua stated.
Dr. Abdul highlighted Yabatech’s mission to produce graduates who are well-prepared for the contemporary workplace. He commended NEM Insurance for its ongoing support and contributions to the Nigerian insurance sector. “Yabatech is committed to producing graduates who are both academically sound and prepared for the workforce. Working together with companies like NEM Insurance is crucial to accomplishing this objective,” Abdul remarked.
During the discussions, both parties agreed to explore collaborative projects, including internship programmes for Yabatech students, the development of specialised courses, and customised training initiatives to provide students with practical experience in insurance and financial services.
NEM Insurance’s Chairman, Tope Smart, assured full support for these collaborative efforts. “Your requests are guaranteed, and working together, we can accomplish significant milestones for Yabatech and NEM,” Smart affirmed.
