Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has made a significant contribution to education by donating ₦30 million to Paul University, Awka, Anambra State.
The announcement, made via his official X account on Monday, underscores his belief in education as a vital tool for national development.
“I had the pleasure of visiting Paul University, Awka, where I presented a cheque of ₦30 million to support the institution’s continued growth and development,” Obi shared. This donation marks his third visit to the university, where he has previously contributed ₦10 million on two separate occasions, bringing his total support to ₦50 million.
During his visit, Obi toured the university’s ongoing projects with the institution’s proprietor and team, expressing admiration for the progress, especially the new School of Nursing Sciences. “Their steadfast dedication to advancing education and equipping students with productive skills and opportunities is truly commendable,” he noted.
Obi reaffirmed his commitment to education, emphasizing its role in empowering Nigerian youth and building a stronger society. “By investing in education, we unlock the immense potential of our people to become productive members of society and, thus, pave the way for sustainable and inclusive progress,” he stated, pledging continued support for the university’s initiatives.
