The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended admissions into Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programmes at eight universities across Nigeria, including the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, and Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s Redeemer’s University.
The decision follows the directive of the Council of Legal Education (CLE), which placed a hold on law admissions at the affected institutions due to non-compliance with regulatory standards.
JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, emphasizing that the suspension will be strictly enforced.
According to Benjamin, the institutions affected by the suspension include Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State; Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State; Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State; Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State; Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State; Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State; Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State; and the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.
While the suspension applies to all eight universities for the 2025/2026 academic session, Dr. Benjamin revealed that the Nigerian Police Academy will face an extended suspension for two academic sessions, spanning 2025/2026 and 2026/2027.
Consequently, JAMB will not process or approve any law admissions for these universities in the upcoming session, effectively barring new entrants from enrolling in their LL.B programmes.
