Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has nullified the final year examinations taken on January 29 by graduating students from the Faculty of Arts, citing disruptions caused by excessive celebrations.
The university’s Registrar, Ephraim Isiraojie, announced the decision in a memo on Thursday, stating that the students’ actions violated the institution’s directives against exuberant celebrations. Despite multiple warnings, students from the departments of Mass Communication, English, History, and International Studies engaged in activities deemed inappropriate.
“The university management, in an emergency meeting held on Wednesday, 29th January 2025, has decided to invoke the extant laws on wild jubilation/celebration,” Isiraojie said.
According to the memo, the students used sirens, engaged in car displays, sprayed money, and blocked access roads, disrupting movement in and out of the university. In response, management decided to cancel all final year examinations conducted that day, specifically listing courses such as ELS41I, MAC 414, and IIIS416 among those affected.
“The university management shall decide in due course when such cancelled examinations shall be rescheduled,” the registrar added.
Isiraojie warned that the decision should serve as a deterrent to other graduating students who are yet to complete their final exams, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to maintaining order and discipline on campus.
