Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has set its sights on a groundbreaking transformation in its academic landscape by aiming for a 70:30 ratio in postgraduate and undergraduate intake by the year 2036.
This visionary initiative was revealed by ProfessorKabiru Bala, the esteemed vice chancellor of ABU, during the inaugural international conference organized by the department of mass communication at the university.
Bala emphasized the strategic importance of increasing postgraduate enrolment, citing its crucial role in fostering high-level manpower and facilitating quality research for sustainable national development.
The announcement came as part of a three-day conference, commencing on February 26, 2024, in collaboration with influential partners including the MacArthur Foundation, Centre for Collaborative Investigative Journalism (CCIJ), Rise Networks, Dataphyte, International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR), and Wadata Media and Advocacy Centre (WAMAC).
The comprehensive plan outlined by the vice chancellor is not only geared towards addressing local and global challenges but also aims to enhance ABU’s global ranking and visibility.
By prioritizing postgraduate studies, ABU envisions playing a pivotal role in shaping solutions for contemporary issues while solidifying its position as a leader in the international academic landscape.
