Four-year-old Miguel Ovoke, a pupil at BrickHall School in Abuja who tragically passed away during feeding hours, will be laid to rest on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja.

The counsel for the Ovoke family, Deji Adeyanju, made this known in a notice sent to our correspondent in Abuja.

“We hereby extend an open invitation to the media to attend the burial of the late Miguel Ovoke slated to be held on May 10, 2024, at the Gudu Cemetery and a joint press conference to be held by the boy’s family and the management of Brickhall School.

The death of Miguel Ovoke is of significant public interest and we welcome your presence to provide timely coverage in disseminating accurate information to the public. Please, accept our regards,” the notice read.

It was reported that Miguel was rushed to the Excel Specialist Hospital after choking on a piece of meat during lunch at school. Despite the efforts of the medical team, he was declared dead upon arrival on April 24. The hospital’s medical report indicated that all attempts to resuscitate the boy were unsuccessful.

The school’s management and Parents Teacher’s Forum had expressed heartfelt condolences to the family, describing the incident as a “heart-wrenching event.” They acknowledged the prompt response of the school’s trained nurse and the decision to rush Miguel to the hospital but lamented that his life could not be saved.
