In a bid to encourage and award academic excellence, an alumnus of Benson Idahosa university, BIU, has offered a fully funded scholarship for master’s degree to the best overall student in the university who is interested in doing his or her education at Benson Idahosa university.
While disclosing this on Friday 13th September, 2019, at the fifteenth convocation ceremony of the university, Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof Sam Guobadia, said the donor of the award was the best graduating student of the class of 2008 from the accounting department of the university.
He said an alumnus had also pledged the sum of one million naira for the overall best graduating student, effective from 2020 convocation ceremony.
Commending the laudable move, he tasked the 2019 class to be challenged by the alumni and also plan to give back when they are blessed.
